Time to Forget the Fast Lane--Spend a Few Days at Red House Farm Glaisdale
Fitness and Fun at Your Own Pace
Walking and sight-seeing are the most popular activities for the area around Red House Farm, but we are happy to arrange or provide contact numbers for fishing, riding or mountain bike hire. If you wish to fish for salmon or sea trout, it is wise to book in advance during the autumn. Although there are sections of the river open to the public, these tend to get heavily used when the salmon are running.
Take a train ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Grosmont to Pickering. http://www.nymr.co.uk
See www.northyorkmoors.org.uk for walks, activities, and a yearly guide to the area.
The North York Moors National Park Tourism Network's 'We Know Our Coast' project has provided us with these excellent guides to help you plan your days before you come as well as while you are here. We have also provided you with a copy in your cottage and bed and breakfast Information Packs. It is best to have a look before you arrive, because you may want to book before you arrive to avoid disappointment. Click to download each Guide.
The following recommendations are describing some of these activities in more details.

Question: Do you have laundry facilities?
Answer: Not in the B&B, but we have a drying room where you can hang wet clothes and put wet boots. Each of our self-catering cottages has its own washer/dryer and an entryway for boots and jackets.
Question: Do you transfer luggage?
Answer: No, but Brigantes or Sherpa Van do transfers along the Cleveland Way (as well as the Coast-to-Coast Walk, and Pack Horse along the Coast-to-Coast Walk ). All three agencies are accustomed to delivering luggage to our premises.
Real Staithes and Port Mulgrave
We have just had a fantastic taster day on a 'Real Staithes' experience and we can highly recommend this experience. Have a look at the website on the link below and choose the one right for you. You will need to book ahead. Port Mulgrave is a long and sometimes slippery walk down. The walk up is easier, but probably shouldn't be attempted by anyone who suffers from shortness of breath or mobility problems. It is well worth the effort if you are fit and well!!
